Adam Docker

Cinematographer & Portrait Photographer

Adam Docker is a British cinematographer, director and photographer who has spent more than 30 years working behind the camera. Originally drawn to the world of filmmaking almost by accident, he built a career that has taken him to almost 100 countries, working across documentaries, television, sport, commercials and music projects.

Over the years, his filmmaking work has included environmental documentaries such as Eco Crime Investigators, the award-winning short film What's Wrong with Raymond?, and major productions including Unknown: Cave of Bones and Captains of the World.

Photography has travelled alongside his cinematography career for much of that time, gradually developing into a more personal creative practice. What began as something he did between film projects became a way to explore his own ideas, experiment with movement, light and emotion, and connect more closely with the people in front of his camera.

His photographic work spans portraiture, documentary, street and travel photography. It has received recognition from Portrait of Britain and Portrait of Humanity, among other international competitions. In 2024, he presented Motion & Emotion, his first solo exhibition at J/M Gallery in London, bringing together more than 25 years of photographic work.

Now based in Suffolk, Adam continues to work as both a cinematographer and photographer, bringing the cinematic eye he has developed over decades of filmmaking into the world of still photography. He may not have made it as a rock star, but life certainly gave him one hell of a backstage pass!
