Joumana El Zein Khoury

Joumana El Zein Khoury is the Executive Director of the World Press Photo Foundation, taking the helm in 2021 to lead the organization into its next era. Her appointment followed 15 years of dedicated work in international cultural exchange, including serving as Director of the Prince Claus Fund and her early work with the Arab Image Foundation, where she first realized the power of controlling one's own visual narrative.

Since joining WPP, she has driven significant change, most notably reforming the annual contest into a regional model, which successfully put the "world" back into the foundation by ensuring 80% of winners are local photographers. As WPP celebrates its 70th Anniversary, Joumana has steered a critical examination of its own history through the exhibition 'What Have We Done?'. She is a tireless advocate for industry sustainability, focusing on equipping freelancers via the Joop Swart Masterclass with a survival toolkit covering ethics, contracts, safety, and grants. Her commitment ensures WPP maintains the highest standards of integrity and trust in an age of misinformation.
