Melody Mellinger

Melody Mellinger (USA) is a nature and wildlife photographer based in eastern Pennsylvania, with a particular love for birds and the small moments of beauty found close to home.

Although Melody had enjoyed photography since receiving her first point-and-shoot camera as a teenager, her journey became more serious when she bought her first DSLR in 2015. Determined to understand everything the camera could offer, she began practicing with the flowers in her garden before turning her attention to butterflies and birds. She soon became fascinated by the challenge and unpredictability of bird photography — a passion that has continued to grow ever since.

Much of Melody’s work is created close to home, where she carefully observes the birds that visit her backyard throughout the seasons. By planting bird-friendly trees and flowers, creating natural perches and adapting her garden with both photography and the birds’ well-being in mind, she transforms familiar surroundings into opportunities for meaningful images. Her patient observation has also given her a deeper understanding of bird behavior and a growing awareness of how everyday choices can help protect the wildlife around us.

Through her photography, Melody hopes to encourage others to slow down, look more closely and discover the beauty of the natural world — even in their own backyard.
