Joanna Steidle

Joanna L. Steidle (USA) is an award-winning professional drone pilot, aerial photographer, filmmaker, visual artist and DJI Creator based in the Hamptons on Long Island, New York. Through fine-art drone photography, videography and FPV flight, she reveals the patterns, movement and unexpected beauty of marine life and coastal environments from a perspective rarely seen from the ground.

Since beginning her commercial drone journey in 2017, Joanna has developed a distinctive body of work centred on the Atlantic Ocean and its wildlife. From whales, sharks, rays and dolphins to vast schools of menhaden, coastal marshes and abstract patterns in the water, her images combine artistic expression with a deep commitment to ocean conservation and environmental awareness.

Joanna was named International Aerial Photographer of the Year in 2025 and has received more than 30 international photography awards. Her work has been featured by organizations and publications including National Geographic, the BBC, Smithsonian Magazine and DJI, and her limited-edition fine-art prints are represented internationally through YellowKorner Galleries.

Alongside her creative work, Joanna is committed to responsible drone operation, maintaining a strong focus on safety, privacy and respect for wildlife. Through teaching, consulting and mentoring — particularly supporting women entering the drone industry — she shares the knowledge others offered her when she first began. Guided by a deep love for the ocean and natural world, Joanna hopes her aerial photography will inspire people not only to appreciate the beauty of our coastlines and marine life, but also to help protect them.
