Ken Marsh is a wildlife photographer, outdoor writer, and editor with a lifelong connection to Alaska’s wild landscapes. He began his career in 1988 as the outdoors editor of Alaska magazine, eventually rising to editor-in-chief. After nearly a decade at the helm of one of the state’s most iconic publications, he left to pursue freelance work — photographing and writing about the wilds of Alaska, western Canada, and the Pacific Northwest.
Ken’s work has appeared in Gray’s Sporting Journal, Alaska magazine, Shooting Sportsman, Pointing Dog Journal, BC Outdoors, and many others. His book, Breakfast at Trout’s Place: The Seasons of an Alaska Flyfisher, was published in 1999.
In the 2000s, Ken also served as a weekly fishing columnist for the Anchorage Daily News, and became widely recognized for his public service work as spokesman for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and the Alaska State Troopers. Today, he’s come full circle — back to full-time work as a photographer and freelance writer, capturing the stories of Alaska’s wilderness through both words and images.
